Description
What are Mefenamic Acid Tablets?
Mefenamic Acid tablets contain the main active ingredient called mefenamic acid. It belongs to a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It has been widely used for many years to reduce the inflammation of the body. Moreover, it also helps reduce pain, including menstrual cramps and lower abdominal pain.
How does Mefenamic Acid Tablets Work?
During the periods, the uterus undergoes contraction, causing pain and cramps in the lower abdomen. This contraction is caused by the production of the chemical named prostaglandin. Mefenamic acid blocks the production of this chemical, which in turn reduces the contraction of the uterus and thus the pain decreases. Moreover, it is also used to reduce the inflammation and discomfort during menstruation.
