Mounjaro (tirzepatide) – Eli Lilly
Mounjaro is a once weekly injectable treatment designed for adults living with obesity or weight related health conditions. It works by targeting hormones that control appetite and blood sugar, helping you feel fuller for longer and eat less overall. The injection is self-administered using a pre-filled pen, with doses increased gradually under medical guidance.

The most commonly reported side effects of Mounjaro include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and constipation, which are particularly prevalent when starting treatment or after a dose increase. Some patients also experience reduced appetite, indigestion, abdominal pain, and burping. Injection site reactions such as redness, swelling, or itching may occur. These gastrointestinal effects tend to improve over time as the body adjusts to the medication.

Wegovy (semaglutide) – Novo Nordisk
Wegovy is another weekly injection that supports long-term weight management. It mimics a natural hormone that regulates hunger, helping reduce appetite and calorie intake. Patients typically start on a low dose which is slowly increased over time to improve tolerance and results.

Wegovy shares a similar side effect profile to other GLP-1 receptor agonists, with nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, and stomach pain being the most frequently reported. Headache, fatigue, and dizziness may also occur, particularly in the early stages of treatment. Injection site reactions are possible, and some patients report a slowing of gastric emptying, which can cause bloating and a prolonged feeling of fullness. Side effects are generally most noticeable during dose escalation.

Mysimba tablets – Orexigen Therapeutics
Mysimba is a tablet taken daily to help control appetite and reduce food cravings. It works on areas of the brain linked to hunger and reward, making it particularly helpful for people who struggle with emotional or habitual eating. The dose is built up gradually over the first few weeks.

Common side effects of Mysimba include nausea, which is the most frequently reported complaint, along with constipation, vomiting, headache, and dizziness. Some patients experience dry mouth, insomnia, hot flushes, and increased blood pressure or heart rate. Mysimba can also cause changes in mood or anxiety in some individuals, and there is a small risk of seizures, particularly in those with predisposing factors. It is important to take the tablets with food to help minimise gastrointestinal discomfort.

Orlistat capsules
Orlistat is a capsule taken with meals that contain fat. It works by preventing some of the fat you eat from being absorbed by the body. This makes it a good option for those who prefer a non-injectable treatment, especially when combined with a healthy, balanced diet.

As Orlistat works by blocking the absorption of dietary fat, its side effects are largely a direct consequence of this mechanism. The most common issues include oily or fatty stools, oily spotting on underwear, frequent or urgent bowel movements, flatulence with discharge, and oily discharge from the rectum. These effects are significantly worse if a high-fat meal is consumed and typically serve as a reinforcer to maintain a low-fat diet. Headache and upper respiratory tract infections have also been reported.

At Dr Weightman’s, we take great care to ensure that all injectable medications arrive with you in perfect condition. All injections are packaged in robust cardboard boxes, insulated with a wool pack and accompanied by an ice pack to maintain the required cool temperature throughout transit.

All cold chain items are despatched via 24-hour Tracked Delivery as standard, with Special Delivery available upon request.

Upon receipt, patients are asked to carefully unpack their delivery and check that the product received is correct and matches what was prescribed for them. Medications should then be stored promptly in a refrigerator at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C.
