Description

It provides extra protection against tooth decay, especially for people with sensitive teeth or those with a high risk of cavities or gum problems.

What is Duraphat

Unlike other regular toothpastes, Duraphat is a high-fluoride toothpaste. It contains 5000 ppm (parts per million) of fluoride in comparison to regular toothpastes, which can contain around 1000-1450 ppm.

Because it has a very high level of fluoride, it is recommended only for those people who are at a higher risk of getting tooth decay. Moreover, it can also be used by people who need strong protection for their enamel.

Use of Duraphat

Duraphat toothpaste is used for many reasons. Some of them are

  • To prevent tooth decay
  • To give strength to the enamel
  • To reduce the sensitivity of the teeth
  • To protect and avoid any more damage to the teeth.

How does Duraphat work

Duraphat has a high proportion of fluoride in it. When it is applied directly to the teeth, it prevents the tooth from further breaking down. Moreover, it helps to repair and strengthen the teeth that are already damaged or broken. Additionally, it slows down the growth of bacteria, thus protecting the teeth from cavities.

How to Use Duraphat

Although Duraphat is very easy to use, there are some guidelines that you should adhere to:

  • Apply only a small amount of toothpaste on your toothbrush (pea-sized amount)
  • Moreover, brush your teeth in the vertical position from the gums to the tips of the teeth, for three minutes.
  • Spit out after brushing without rinsing your mouth with water, and do not swallow, as it may upset your stomach.
  • Try to avoid drinking or eating anything for at least 30 minutes after brushing
  • Always consult your dentist for the duration of using the toothpaste; it may be used for a long time, but under the supervision of the dentist.

Side Effects Of Duraphat

Generally, Duraphat toothpaste is very safe and it is rare to experience side effects. However it may cause reactions in some people that include:

  • Rash
  • Swelling
  • Itchiness
  • Redness
  • Dryness of mouth

If you notice any of the side effects, stop using it immediately and seek medical advice right away.
