Description

What is Amorolfine nail lacquer?

Amorolfine nail lacquer is a prescription-strength antifungal treatment. It is used for the treatment and management of fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) that affect the fingernails and toenails. Amorolfine Hydrochloride (5%) is an active ingredient, which is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. It works by stopping the growth of fungus by promoting fungus breakdown. Therefore, it not only treats but also prevents the recurrence of infection.

With a convenient once or twice weekly application, Amorolfine Nail Lacquer penetrates the nail plate to reach the site of infection directly. As a result, it offers an effective alternative for those who prefer topical treatments over oral antifungal medications.

How does Amorolfine work?

Amorolfine belongs to a family of antifungal drugs known as morpholines. It works by stopping the production of a chemical called ergosterol. It is a key component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting this process, the medication causes structural damage to the fungus, stopping its growth and killing it over time.

As a result of this, the infected nail will be removed, and only a healthy nail will grow and replace the damaged one.

How to use Amorolfine nail lacquer

Use Amorolfine nail lacquer with guidance from your practitioner or doctor who will determine the dose and frequency of use according to the severity of the infection. Some general steps that you should follow are:

  • Do not wash the treated nails for at least 6–8 hours after application (best applied before bedtime).
  • Repeat the process for other infected nails as well.
