Herpes

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted infection (STI), which can be passed on from person to person and is caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is a virus, which once infected remains in the body of the infected individual, resulting in breakouts from time to time, as is the case with cold sores. It causes blisters or sores on the skin of the genitals, which can be accompanied with itching or tingling. You may also experience stinging or pain around the blisters and/or a burning sensation when passing urine.

As mentioned earlier, unfortunately once you have genital herpes, the infection stays in your body for life and cannot be fully cured. However, there is treatment available to help you manage the symptoms when an outbreak of blisters occurs.

This will be in the form of anti-viral medication, such as Aciclovir tabelts, which will help speed up your recovery. We know that it may be difficult or embarrassing to discuss this with your doctor, which is why we feel we can make this easier for you. Once you have filled in the short questionnaire, our clinician will assess it, and recommend the suitable treatment, which will be posted out to you in discreet packaging, maintaining strict confidentiality.
