Modern head lice treatments have moved on from harsh insecticides: dimeticone-based lotions and sprays work physically by coating the lice, so resistance isn’t an issue. Apply as directed, repeat after a week to catch newly hatched lice, and comb through to check. For scabies – an intensely itchy rash caused by burrowing mites – permethrin cream applied to the whole body is the standard treatment, and everyone in close contact should be treated on the same day.
