Itchy, flaky, sometimes stinging skin between the toes is the classic sign of athlete’s foot, a fungal infection that thrives in warm, damp shoes and changing rooms. Antifungal creams, sprays and powders containing ingredients like terbinafine or clotrimazole clear most cases – the trick is continuing for the time stated on the pack after symptoms fade, so the fungus is properly gone. Dry carefully between the toes and change socks daily while treating.
