Eye Infections

Sticky, red, weepy eyes usually point to conjunctivitis. Viral cases clear by themselves, but bacterial conjunctivitis can be treated with chloramphenicol drops and ointment, available from a pharmacy for adults and children over two. Good hygiene stops it spreading: wash hands often, don’t share towels, and bin used tissues. If symptoms don’t start improving within a couple of days of treatment, or you wear contact lenses, seek advice.
