  • You understand that you need to have a repeat blood test within 3 months of starting this treatment to ensure you are using the most appropriate dose.
  • You understand that it is essential to have blood tests every 6 months to check levels of red blood cells, liver function, testosterone and to also annually check prostate and blood pressure.
  • You understand that if you are aged 50 years and over you can request a prostate exam and check PSA levels through your GP.
  • You understand if you experience acute leg swelling, shortness of breath or acute limb weakness you should attend the emergency department.
  • You understand that Testosterone can increase risk of blood clots, you must seek advice if planning a long haul trip or having elective surgery as treatment may need to be stopped.
  • You understand that if you develop symptoms of urinary urgency, frequency, dysuria, difficulty initiating stream or terminal dribbling you must refer to your GP.
  • You understand that Testosterone treatment can affect fertility. You should not use this treatment if you plan to have children in the future.
  • You understand that if you have a female partner, appropriate contraception should still be discussed prior to starting treatment.
  • You understand that if you plan to have children in the future, you should receive HCG treatment.
  • You understand that use of testosterone on its own can result in testicular atrophy (shrinking of testicles).
  • You understand that if you wish to maintain fertility and testicular size, an adjunct treatment of HCG would be necessary. You should obtain this treatment from your regular specialist.
  • You understand that use of testosterone can cause gynaecomastia (enlargement of breasts) which is irreversible. If you notice tender nipples or discharge you must discontinue medication and refer to your doctor immediately.
  • You understand that use of testosterone replacement therapy can accelerate hair loss, if this is an area of concern you must speak to your doctor or seek advice from our pharmacist.
  • You understand that Testosterone can be topically transferred to others. It is important to wash hands after applying gels/creams and avoiding contact with others, especially pregnant women and children, until dry.
  • You understand and confirm that requesting treatment through this service does not guarantee a prescription. If treatment is not suitable, you will be fully refunded and signposted to another point of care. The decision about the treatment is for both the patient and the prescriber to consider, however, the final decision will always lie with the prescriber
